Things change.

The recent congressional elections have been a rather large shock to the current political landscape of Redmont. The once largely uncontested Workers’ Party of Redmont (WPR) found itself challenged by the newly founded Labour Party (LAB), with LAB scoring 3 seats in the House of Representatives, and 1 seat in the Senate. This is opposed to the WPR, which had gained only 2 seats in the House of Representatives and one seat in the Senate.

This shows a shift in the political climate of Redmont; with the old largest competitor to the WPR, the Social Democrat Party (SDP), gaining only one seat in the house alongside The Evergreens (TE).

As times change, so do the issues present in Redmont. The reason behind The Evergreens’ success can be attributed to the old popularity of wild towns as well as griefing attacks committed against them. However, as CNN has stated in a recent article of theirs: “[…]with the scandals in Mironia firmly in the past, and no major controversies in the wild, it seems to have faded from the minds of many Redmontians.”

When wild towns and griefing attacks against them were in the public conscious, most parties including the WPR took a stance against terrorism. The WPR in particular kicked a member from their party for being involved in a popular griefing attack, keeping them favorable in the minds of Redmontians.

Eventually though, as stated previously, wild towns largely dissipated from public discourse after the situation had been stabilized, and terrorist attacks had largely stopped.

Before and during the controversies involving the wild, a looming threat rocked Redmontian politics. The dreaded “Jaron wave”. After the famous youtuber Yeah_Jaron had joined the server and began playing, many immediately predicted he’d make a video on the server. Following an interesting time spent on the server, Jaron stopped playing and began working on his video. Redmont panicked.

Taxation Incarnation and Jaron

The video would crash the economy, burn down your house, steal your spouse, and destroy everything you hold dear! It will be nothing like what Redmont has seen before, or at least that’s what the public said. The government could not afford to pay the new players that would come in following a wave on the scale of a youtuber such as Yeah_Jaron, and congress needed to find solutions.

A variety of solutions had been offered, however the WPR chose to go with a simple plan: increase taxes. In general, the WPR wanted to increase the amount of people that would pay balance tax so that the government could afford the new player balances that would be paid out to the Jaron wave.

This was largely disliked by a majority of the Redmontian public, most people did not want their taxes to be increased. It was during this time that a variety of politicians advocating for an alternative solution to the government’s money troubles gained traction. The most important one of those being Incarnation__.

Incarnation__’s first notable job on the server was as a journalist for RazNews, where he wrote several articles before the Jaron wave and taxation was in the public eye. After the WPR took the stance of increasing taxes, Incarnation__ became popular as an advocate against the taxation plan the WPR had proposed, and advocating for an “item sink” to help improve the economy and increase government revenue, as well as borrowing money and taking loans to deal with the crisis.

After speaking out against increased taxes for some time, Incarnation__ threw his hat into the ring for the House of Representatives special election of March 2026. In the election, multiple other promising candidates had declared; including TE candidate Gluonmaster, SDP candidate PluraGlasshouse, WPR candidate xXTheoryXx, and promising independent Johnes. Many had predicted that the WPR candidate would win the election.

This was the first election Representative Incarnation__ had ran in, and he ended up winning with an equal amount of first preference votes as the WPR candidate. This was a major shock to Redmont, seeing such a new figure not just perform well in a heavily contest special election, but seeing him win.

About 3 days after Incarnation__’s election to house, he founded the Labour Party to further advance his goals.

The party became registered 7 days later, and began to gain traction; attracting members who agreed with Incarnation__’s ideas, and opposed the WPR’s plan for taxation.

Eventually, as the Yeah_Jaron video failed to come out in a short amount of time, many realized that it was not as immediate a threat to Redmont as it had seemed. Taxation too mostly began to fade from the mind of Redmont’s public.

However, the distaste for the WPR and the options they put forwards continued to simmer in the minds of Redmontians.

Stanley582

Stanley582 was a well known journalist and owner of the news company CNN before being elected to house. Having already been a member of a variety of political parties including the now defunct New Dawn Party and the SDP, he was not new to politics. However, he was still largely unknown within Redmont as a major politician, and many doubted his ability to win as an independent candidate.

On April 13th a special election opened up for two empty house seats; in a repeat of the special election Incarnation__ had ran for, it was heavily contested.

Yet again this race included a candidate from the WPR, antonfr_, who had joined the WPR following the merger of the Socialist People’s Alliance with the SDP.

Stanley582’s campaign largely revolved around the issues of the rights of wild towns, who at this time were still being attacked by griefers, and dealing with the Jaron wave through increasing taxation, not too dissimilar to what the WPR was campaigning on.

Stanley582 ended up winning a seat in the special election alongside antonfr_, this had yet again shocked many Redmontians.

Later, Stanley582 would join LAB, and be one of the LAB candidates to win in the congress general election.

Stagnation

When the issue of wild towns was prevalent in Redmont, the WPR did not campaign on the issue. Instead, they continued to campaign on largely the same issues the party had been campaigning for previously. Even as TE gained popularity and the WPR took a stance against terrorism, they never campaigned on the issue.

Meanwhile, newer independent candidates often ran on whatever issues were most prevalent, whether it be the issue of wild towns or opposition to the taxation plan the WPR proposed to deal with the Jaron wave.

It is no wonder why these two surprise candidates, Incarnation__ and Stanley582, won. It is also no wonder why the party they are both members of and campaign for also saw major success with the recent general election.

Redmont is tired of the WPR and their focus on the same old issues. They want something new, and LAB, as well as several independent candidates, have offered just that.

Opposition to the WPR is growing, that is clear. But then, why haven’t their longstanding opposition parties grown? What happened to Redmont’s right.

What this article is actually about

When the The Freedmon Coalition (TFC) had their candidate for Aventura mayor, Budgiebud, successfully elected; he was almost immediately caught in a controversy in which he allegedly stole multiple blocks of netherite and griefed Aventura’s spawn.

This controversy has exponentially increased town rights rhetoric within Redmont, and caused many candidates to begin running on the issue.

Whether or not the allegations against Budgiebud are true or not does not matter. This controversy has undoubtably affected TFC’s reputation within Redmont.

Despite this though, TFC was still able to gain a seat within the House of Representatives after the congressional general election. The Redmont Beach Party (RBP), however, was not so lucky.

In order to remain a registered member of a political party, a user must have at least 6h of playtime in the last 30d. The current leader of the RBP, “Head Lifeguard” Omegabiebel, is under that.

In the last congressional general election, the RBP was only able to gain one seat in the house. In this congressional general election, the RBP failed to have a candidate declare.

There have been times where the RBP has come to rival the WPR in terms of power, managing to have several seats in the House of Representatives in the past.

Both TFC and the RBP describe themselves as right leaning parties, with TFC in particular being a right wing umbrella party. It makes no sense though, why would the two longest living major opposition parties to the WPR be struggling so heavily?

It’s clear that Redmont is not just tired of the WPR, but the status quo as a whole. If these players who elected LAB into congress were simply against the WPR, it would make more sense if TFC and the RBP found themselves in a better position. At the very least, you would expect their membership to increase. However, this has not happened.

Redmont is still left leaning, Redmont is still Redmont. However, Redmont also wants change, they want a focus on the issues they care about, they want something new.

It will be up to the parties of Redmont on whether they want to go with this new movement, or if they want to continue with the status quo.

Regardless, this is a turning point. With the presidential election coming soon, who’s to say what will happen.
